ABOUT
DOLLY PARTON'S

IMAGINATION LIBRARY

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth until they begin school, no matter their family’s income.

After launching in 1995, the program grew quickly. First books were only distributed to children living in Sevier County, Tennessee where Dolly grew up. It became such a success that in 2000 a national replication effort was underway. By 2003, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library had mailed one million books. It would prove to be the first of many millions of books sent to children around the world.

LOCAL MISSION.

The Imagination Library of Saline County (ILSC) enhances the literacy of young children of Saline County by providing books to children in their homes.

The birthrate in Saline County is approximately 1000 children per year and the cost to provide a child with books for an entire year is $25 or $2.08 per month To serve 80% of our children, it would cost approximately $100,00 a year.

COMMUNITY EVENTS.

ILSC volunteers represent the organization at various community events throughout the year. At these events, the volunteers share information about the international program to educate potential donors, local groups and businesses and families. If you would like to have an ILSC volunteer speak to your organization, please contact us.
